MR Perfusion Imaging

چکیده

pletion of initial therapy, showing stable post-treatment changes or no significant focal accumulation of tracer on CT, will raise the likelihood of local control to nearly 100%. The corollary of this suggested scenario is that progressive imaging changes or focal tracer accumulation will indicate recurrence in about 75% or more of the cases in which those findings occur. With such high positive and negative predictive values, biopsy, with its attendant risks, should be performed only when confronted with a very high likelihood of recurrent tumor. This group will have been triaged on the basis of a pretreatment risk profile and objective posttreatment surveillance studies. This is not a plea for imaging all patients treated for head and neck cancer. Such a suggestion would be economically irresponsible. It is a plea for the logical and judicious application of powerful imaging tools to help improve the salvage rate and reduce the morbidity of treatment for recurrent head and neck squamous cell cancer. This will become more important as targeted nonsurgical salvage therapies become more widely available in the near future.

Quantification of blood-brain-barrier permeability dysregulation and inflammatory activity in MS lesions by dynamic-contrast enhanced MR imaging

Objective: Measurement of blood-brain permeability dysfunction in active and chronic MS lesions with T1-weighted dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI to show variation in inflammatory activity Background: blood-brain-barrier perfusion characterization impaired in MS as some studies have shown recently buta comparison between perfusion parameters in contrast-enhanced and non-enhanced lesions not have ...

The role of relative cerebral blood volume obtained from Perfusion Weighted Imaging-MRI in glioma tumor grading before surgery

Introduction: Glioma is the most common type of brain malignancy among adults. Treatment for this type of tumor involves surgery, radiotherapy, and in higher grades, including chemotherapy. The precise grading of the tumor is critical for treatment planning and prognosis determining. Considering the possibility of problems such as errors in tissue sampling during surgery, as we...

The Significance of Perfusion Defect at Myocardial Perfusion MR Imaging in a Cat Model of Acute Reperfused Myocardial Infarction

OBJECTIVE To determine whether the size of a perfusion defect seen at myocardial perfusion MR imaging represents the extent of irreversibly damaged myocardium in acute reperfused myocardial infarction. MATERIALS AND METHODS In nine cats, reperfused myocardial infarction was induced by occlusion of the left anterior descending coronary artery for 90 minutes and subsequent reperfusion for 90 mi...

Dynamic magnetic resonance perfusion imaging of brain tumors.

In this paper, we review the technique of contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance (MR) perfusion imaging of brain neoplasms, with an emphasis on its clinical applications and utility. We start with a discussion of MR perfusion techniques available today and their relative merits and shortcomings. Next, the ability of MR perfusion to provide a preoperative assessment of tumor histology is examined....

Dynamic contrast-enhanced T2*-weighted MR imaging of gliomatosis cerebri.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE MR imaging characteristics of gliomatosis cerebri reiterate the diffuse nature of this tumor but are nonspecific and thus may pose a diagnostic challenge. Because perfusion MR imaging can provide a physiologic map of the microcirculation, we compared the measured relative cerebral blood volume (rCBV) at perfusion imaging with histopathologic findings in gliomatosis cerebr...

Otavio R. Coelho-Filho, MD, MPH Carsten Rickers, MD Raymond Y. Kwong, MD, MPH Michael Jerosch-Herold, PhD Contrast material–enhanced myocardial perfusion imaging by using cardiac magnetic resonance (MR) imaging has, during the past decade, evolved into an accurate technique for diagnosing coronary artery disease, with excellent prognostic value. Advantages such as high spatial resolution; absen...
